Barrel Republic, a self-serve bar, is opening its fourth San Diego county location on Grand Avenue.
The founder, David Pike, wanted a place where customers could pour their own beer and pay by the ounce. Credit card activated bracelets customers receive upon entering gives guests the freedom to drink as much or as little as they want of the different beers offered.

The Escondido location will offer at least fifty iPourIt self-serve beer taps and will have a menu like the one at their Carlsbad and Oceanside locations. For those who don’t drink alcoholic beverages, the Barrel Republic gastropub will offer an assortment of non-alcoholic drinks including kombucha, craft soda, tea, and iced coffee.
The full menu has 11 starters, including Bacon-wrapped Pork Belly and Fresh Ground Lamb Sliders, many sandwiches and burgers, and over 11 vegetarian items.
Construction for the bar started in Winter 2018. Michelle Geller, Economic Development Manager for the City of Escondido, said “…I can say that we are very excited to have [Barrel Republic] in Downtown Escondido, and the more of this type of establishment the better.”
