LITTLETON, Colo. (October 1, 2019) – Three days of family-friendly events have been announced for the grand opening weekend of Behind the Scenes Tap House, a movie-themed tavern and eatery located in the Reel Factory building in southwest Littleton, Colorado. Festivities begin Friday, October 4 at 11 a.m. and continue through late Sunday night.
A family-friendly movie will be presented on a giant outdoor video screen on Friday evening at 5:30 p.m. Saturday’s activities start at 11 a.m. and include a charity cornhole tournament, a live band performance, and a bounce house for kids. Sunday will be all about football, with live broadcasts on 10 indoor screens and the giant outdoor screen beginning at 10 a.m.
“We’re excited to finally open our doors to the Ken Caryl community,” said Behind the Scenes Tap House president Grant Golesh. “For more than two years, we’ve been researching and planning for this to be a special place for folks to relax, grab a bite to eat, watch a movie, and sample a huge assortment of beers and wines in a family-friendly atmosphere.”
The centerpiece of the business will be a 50-tap self-pour beverage wall, Golesh explained. “This is something completely new for the Littleton area. With our self-pour taps, patrons can draw their own glasses of wine, beer, cocktails, and cider. There’s something for every taste from varietal and blended wines to IPAs and lagers,” he said. “We’ll have beers from local craft breweries plus some popular national brands. And we’ll rotate our offerings, so you’ll have something new to try on every visit.”
The high-tech taps made by iPourIt will allow patrons of legal drinking age to draw small tastes or full servings of any of the beverages on tap, while the RFID-activated system keeps tabs on how much they pour. “We think this technology offers a fun, interactive way for folks to sample craft beers and wine varieties they might not otherwise get to try. It also helps us to promote responsible alcohol consumption,” said Golesh. “And with 50 taps, we have one of the largest iPourIt systems in the country.” In addition to the on-tap drinks, Behind the Scenes Tap House will also offer 20 varieties of canned alcoholic beverages and soft drinks, and a two-flavor ICEE machine.
Outside the building, Behind the Scenes Tap House will operate an on-site mobile kitchen offering chef- created and food truck-inspired appetizers, salads, kids’ fare, gourmet pizzas, and desserts.
Keeping with its movie theme, Behind the Scenes Tap House will regularly screen classic and cult- favorite movies on 10 indoor video monitors and — when weather permits – a 10-foot diagonal outdoor video screen. Friday night screenings will feature G and PG-rated family-friendly movies. Wednesday night screenings will feature popular movies for general audiences with MPAA ratings up to PG-13. At other times, the video screens will carry live sports broadcasts, with an emphasis on Colorado teams.
“Behind the Scenes Tap House is more than just a tavern,” said Golesh. “We want this to be a community gathering place where parents can feel comfortable bringing their children. In addition to the kid-friendly movies, we’ll have board games, storybooks, and art activities for kids to enjoy while they are here with their parents. We’ll also be hosting fundraisers for local charities as our way to give back to the community,” he said. “And all of the profits from one of the beverage taps will be donated to a different local non-profit organization each month.”
Behind the Scenes Tap House is located on the south side of the Reel Factory building at 10488 W. Centennial Road in the Ken-Caryl Business Center, about a mile northwest of the Kipling Parkway exit of highway C-470. After the grand opening weekend, normal operating hours will be Monday through Wednesday from 3 to 9 p.m., Thursday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
