Downtown St. Paul is richer by one very good Mexican restaurant, which opens Wednesday.

Taco Libre, which has locations in West St. Paul, Edina and Oakdale, added another spot, in the former American Burger Bar on Wabasha Street.

The restaurant, known for its tacos and a giant stuffed tortilla concoction called “the machete,” is holding a grand opening in the spot Wednesday.

Unlike its other locations, this Taco Libre serves beer and cocktails, via a self-serve beer wall that features 20 kinds of beer, four margaritas and mezcal cocktails.

The restaurant says in a Facebook event page that it has also updated its menu.
