CLEVELAND (WKBN) – Whistle & Keg in downtown Youngstown is growing. The craft beer bar opened a second location in Cleveland, expanding its reach.
The Cleveland spot on Huron Road has the same concept as the one in Youngstown — self-serve, no bartenders. You’re charged and pour the beer yourself.
The owner believes the bar’s success is all about the atmosphere.
“You’re never rushed. You control your own experience. You never have someone trying to push another drink on you,” Michael Thomas said. “You get it when you want and you have no one serving your table, per se, so you can stay as little or as long as you’d like.”
A microchip in a wristband you wear keeps track so you don’t get more than you paid for.
